INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE READER
-
1.
You copy a line of digits into the search field and find yourself at the top of a story which asks you to believe in it for the time it takes to scroll to the bottom of each page, exhaust the click-throughs, see all the illustrative images, the considerately clipped videos. The story goes, room, metal box, to the edge of a cliff and still alone, in search of the root of this, what appears in the digital frame.
-
2.
The story, woven through fragments of letters and poetry, redacted at will by the writer, will not be understandable to you.
-
3.
There is sound.
-
4.
This website is only a partial manifestation of DEAR LITHIUM, which in its full form is a collection of texts and analogue images that form a single ‘object’, brought together in the shape of a envelope. This object can be found in a public book exchange near the site of the UK’s first pilot lithium extraction plant, United Downs, Cornwall. It is the only edition of DEAR LITHIUM, in circulation.
